Canadian Experience Class (CEC)

The Canadian Experience Class (CEC) is one of the fastest and most popular pathways to Canadian permanent residence for individuals with skilled work experience in Canada.

Designed for temporary foreign workers and international graduates, the CEC allows eligible candidates to transition from temporary status to permanent residence — often in as little as six months.

What is the Canadian Experience Class (CEC) Program?

The Canadian Experience Class (CEC) is an immigration program managed under Canada’s Express Entry system.

Launched in 2008, it is designed for individuals who have already gained skilled work experience in Canada and want to become permanent residents.

CEC candidates are ranked using the Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS). If you meet the eligibility criteria and submit a profile, you will enter the Express Entry pool.

Candidates with the highest scores receive an Invitation to Apply (ITA) for permanent residence.

  • Work experience gained within the last 36 months
  • Experience in a job classified under NOC TEER 0, 1, 2, or 3
